Robbie Reviews at Evoden

So Flavoursome and Aromatic

Good food, good service and good value. Miss Dee’s Evoden nailed all 3, hence why it’s going to the top of my recommendations for Caribbean food in Manchester.

The mains we ate were each £14 and that included two sides. Miss Dee said to us that she wants to feed us like an American, a big portion of hearty food!

We ate:
Oxtail, Jerk chicken, Curry goat, rice and peas, Mac and cheese, and sweet potato fries

Each dish impressed but it was the oxtail that was the star of the show for me. The slow-cooked meat just fell off the bone and the sauce it was in was so rich and warming. I was reluctant to share it tbh but that meant I also got to try the other fantastic dishes.

The curry goat was top. I love curry goat, it’s my usual go-to for Caribbean food and this was the best. So flavoursome and aromatic, tender meat. Just a solid meal.

The jerk chicken is the most popular here and it’s easy to see why, cooked over coals and served either on or off the bone. It’s then drenched in a homemade BBQ sauce. I don’t think my description does it justice tbh. I also tried some homemade Guinness BBQ sauce which apparently Miss Dee uses on her ribs! As a big lover of ribs I am gonna have to try that.

The Mac and cheese was the best side, although Isabella ate most of it haha. She was also a fan of the rice and peas and sweet potato fries too.

My mate Jess told me I have to try their rum punch but unfortunately I was driving, so next time I go I’ll be it 😁
